April 14, 2018 - Kates Begins King of America VIII at Humboldt
1Adam Kates made the trek to Canyon Speedway Park (Peoria, Arizona) on Friday night for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) double-header. Gaining one spot in his heat race, Kates logged a 6th place finish transferring him into the B-Main. Failing to place in the Top-5, Adam was granted a provisional into the opening night feature. Starting in 23rd, Adam Kates was credited with a 22nd place outing after retiring early from the A-Main on lap-14.

On Saturday night for the $3,375 top prize, Kates followed up an 8th place finish in his heat with a 6th place finish in his consolation event. Relying on the use of a provisional to make the show, Adam improved ten spots in the 35-lapper to place 15th.

March 17, 2018 - Kates Begins King of America VIII at Humboldt
1Thursday brought Adam Kates to Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) for the opening night of the King of America VIII Modified Nationals. With 78 cars on hand for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned weekend, Kates slipped back to an 8th place finish in his heat transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top 3 into the opening night feature, Adam logged a 12th place outing.

1The following night for two rounds of heat races, Kates dropped five spots in his first round to place 10th. Starting 7th in his second heat, Adam jumped up three spots reeling in a 4th place finish. Transferring into the D-Main on Saturday for another shot at the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Adam Kates logged a 11th place outing ending his weekend early. (CRP photo)

March 10, 2018 - Adam Kates Follows USMTS Series to Kennedale
1Following the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS), Adam Kates headed to Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) on Friday evening for the fourth round of the Winter Speedweeks presented by MSD Performance. Passing four cars in his 8-lap heat race, Kates reeled in a 4th place finish sending him into the B-Main. Needing to place in the Top 4 to make the opening night feature, Adam slipped back to an 11th place outing ending his night early.

On Saturday night in a field of 43 cars at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi), Kates posted a 5th place finish in his heat giving him one final shot at the $3,000-to-win A-Main with a B-Main appearance. Sending the Top 4 into the show, Adam fell four spots short with an 8th place outing.

Sunday night’s USMTS program at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) was axed by the rain.

March 2, 2018 - Adam Kates Follows USMTS Series to Kennedale
1On Friday night Adam Kates was one of 36 cars signed in at Kennedale Speedway Park (Kennedale, Texas) for the third round of the Summit USTMS Winter Speedweeks presented by MSD Performance. Dropping four spots in his 8-lap heat, Kates logged a 9th place finish transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top-5 into the opening night feature, Adam fell two spots short of a transfer position with a 7th place outing.

A mixture of bad weather and an unfavorable forecast wiped out Saturday and Sunday’s USMTS sanctioned events at Superbowl Speedway (Greenville, Texas) and Grayson County Speedway (Bells, Texas).

February 24, 2018 - Kates Begins USMTS Season at South Texas
1Adam Kates headed to South Texas Speedway (Corpus Christi, Texas) on Friday evening to kick off the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) season with the 9th annual Summit USMTS Winter Speedweeks presented by MSD Performance. In a field of 26 cars, Kates dropped back to a 8th place finish in his heat transferring him into the B-Main. Coming in 5th, Adam earned the 20th-starting position for the opening night feature. 1Returning on Saturday evening, Adam posted a 5th place finish in his heat positioning him 11th on the starting grid for the feature. Running into trouble early, Kates was an early retiree from the 40-lapper on lap 25 while being credited with a 25th place outing.

Sunday’s USMTS finale at Texana Raceway Park (Edna, Texas) was washed away by Mother Nature.

January 14, 2018 - 6th Place Finish in Wild West Shootout Finale
1On Wednesday night Adam Kates was back in action at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona) for the Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout. Coming in 3rd in his heat race, Kates locked his spot into the A-Main. Competing for a $1,000 payday, Adams slipped back to an 18th place outing. (Cheryl Sluka photo)

1After having a scheduled off day on Thursday, Kates returned to action on Friday night competing in a field of 50 USRA Modifieds. Following a 6th place finish in his heat race, Adam came short of a transfer spot into the A-Main with a 9th place finish in his consolation event.

The following night, Kates recorded a 4th place finish in his heat race giving him one final shot at the $1,000-to-win A-Main with a B-Main appearance. Sending the Top 4 into the show, Adam logged a 12th place outing ending his night early.

Wrapping up the 12th annual Wild West Shootout on Sunday, Adam secured his spot into the $2,000-to-win finale with a 4th place finish in his heat. Coming one spot shy of a Top 5 finish, Adam Kates notched a 6th place finish.

January 7, 2018 - Adam Kates Begins 2018 Season at Wild West Shootout
1Bringing the 2018 season to life, Adam Kates made the trip to FK ROD Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona) on Saturday night kicking off the 12th annual Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout. In a field of 48 USRA Modifieds, Kates logged a 5th place finish in his heat race transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top 4 into the opening night feature, Adam scored a 3rd place finish locking his spot into the show. With $1,000 on the line, Adam Kates reeled in a 7th place finish.

Returning on Sunday evening, Adam logged a 6th place finish in his heat sending him into the B-Main. Needing to place in the Top 4 to make the feature, Kates recorded a 6th place finish ending his night early.

November 29th, 2017 - Kates Wraps Up 2017 Season; Prepares for Busy 2018 Slate
The 2017 season saw Adam Kates compete in a total of 60 events where he collected five Top-10 outings and one Top-5 finish. Losing eight of his scheduled dates to bad weather, Adam finished fifth in the United States Modified Touring Series Grant Junghans Rookie of the Year award.

November 4th, 2017 - Adam Kates Attends Chisholm Trail Showdown
1Friday night found Adam Kates in action at 81 Speedway (Park City, Kansas) kicking off the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned 2nd annual Park City Chisholm Trail Showdown presented by Kansas High Performance Racing Auction. In a field of 45 cars, Kates started the night off with a heat race victory earning him the pole position for the opening night feature. After leading the first ten laps, Kates suffered mechanical issues that saw him withdraw from the race on lap 26. He was credited with a 23rd place outing.

The following night, Adam logged a 5th place finish in his heat race transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top 6 into the $3,000-to-win finale, Kates came up two spots short of a transfer position with a 8th place finish.

October 22nd, 2017 - Kates Visits SNMS for USRA Fall Nationals
1Returning with the United States Racing Association (USRA), Adam Kates traveled to Southern New Mexico Speedway (Las Cruces, New Mexico) on Friday night for the 18th annual Rancho Milagro USRA Fall Nationals presented by S&S Finish & Rental, Barnett Harley-Davidson and G3 Fitness. Gaining one spot in his heat, Kates logged a 7th place finish sending him into the B-Main. Transferring the Top 4 into the opening night preliminary feature, Adam streaked through the filed seven spots to place 2nd behind Jason Hughes. Rolling off 17th, Adam Kates held his spot for the entire distance of the A-Main to place 17th.

On Saturday for another round of preliminary features, Kates started the night off with a heat race victory earning him the 7th-starting position for the A-Main. Hanging on to a Top 10 finish, Adam dropped two positions to place 9th.

Wrapping up the USRA Fall Nationals on Sunday, Adam posted a 7th place finish in his 20-lap B-Main locking him into the 17th-starting spot for the $20,000-to-win main event. Moving up one spot in the 50-lap affair, Adam Kates registered a 16th place finish.

October 12th, 2017 - Adam Improves 11 Spots in Feature at I-35 Speedway
1Adam Kates made the trip to I-35 Speedway (Winston, Missouri) on Thursday for the opening night of the 4th annual Summit USRA Nationals. Losing two spots in his heat, Kates logged an 8th place finish transferring him into the B-Main. Moving up five positions, Adam recorded a 5th place finish positioning him 20th on the starting grid for the opening night feature. Breaking into the Top 10, Adam Kates streaked through the field 11 spots registering a 9th place finish.

September 23rd, 2017 - Kates Begins Featherlite Fall Jamboree at Deer Creek
1Thursday night saw Adam Kates return to action at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) for the 19th annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree. Drawing 98 Open Wheel Modifieds for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned weekend, Adam logged a 8th place finish in his heat transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top 3 into the $6,000-to-win opening night feature, Kates recorded a 7th place finish transferring him into the Miner’s Outdoor & Rec Non-Qualifiers feature. Starting in 16th, Adam improved six positions in the 20-lap affair registering a 10th place finish.

The following night rolling off 5th in his heat, Adam gained one position to place 4th. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the feature, Kates came up one spot short with a 4th place outing.

Closing out the 19th annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree on Saturday, Kates logged a 12th place finish in his heat giving him one last shot at the $10,000-to-win finale with a B-Main appearance. Sending the Top 3 into the show, Adam Kates registered a 10th place outing ending his night.

August 26th, 2017 - Top 10 Finish at Hamilton County Speedway
1Behind the wheel of the Rivers Edge Scrap Management #23 Open Wheel Modified, Adam Kates traveled to Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa) on Wednesday night continuing on with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Hunt’s for Casey’s Cup. With 20 cars signed in for the Hamilton County Hullabaloo presented by Casey’s General Stores, Adam recorded a 5th place finish in his heat race positioning him 15th on the starting grid for the A-Main. Breaking into the Top 10, Kates streaked through the field seven positions to place 8th.

On Thursday with 23 cars registered in for action at Nobles County Speedway (Worthington, Minnesota) for the 7th annual USMTS Summer Slam presented by Pace Performance, Adam started the night off with a 8-lap heat race victory locking him into the 7th-starting position for the A-main. With $3,000 on the line, Kates slipped back to a 15th place outing in the 40-lap affair.

For the twelfth stop of the tour, Kates traveled to Rapid Speedway (Rock Rapids, Iowa) on Friday evening for the 7th annual USMTS Rapid Rumbles presented by Casey’s General Stores. Holding his spot in his heat race, Kates registered a 5th place finish earning him the 15th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win feature. Losing three spots, Adam was an early retiree on lap 8 while being credited with a 18th place outing.

Saturday night’s event at Park Jefferson Speedway (North Sioux City, South Dakota) was rained out by Mother Nature.

December 27th, 2016 - Adam Kates Reeled in Four Top 10 Finishes During 2016 Season
Running in only one month of action, Ben Kates posted three Top 10 finishes and two Top 5 outings in only nine attempts. Shortly after taking over the reigns of the #23K Open Wheel Modified, Adam Kates competed in 35 events throughout the 2016 season. With the weather determining the outcome of four of his scheduled events, Adams registered four Top 10 finishes.
